Ajay Devgn-Ileana D'Cruz for romance in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan song

Around 18 years ago, Milan Luthria had roped in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to compose the soundtrack for his directorial debut, 'Kachche Dhaage', starring Ajay Devgn, Manisha Koirala, Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre.

The love ballad, 'Tere Bin Nahin Lagda', picturized in Ajay and Manisha, remains memorable, even after all these years. And now, for his next action thriller 'Baadshaho', the filmmaker has Tanishk Bagchi to recreate the creation of the legend, 'Rashk-e-Qamar'. Like 'Tere Bin Nahin Lagda', this one also has Ajay, but with Ileana D'Cruz.

Said as one of Nusrat's timeless classics, 'Rashk-e-Qamar' is an attractive number that is popular even internationally. The new version, written by Manoj Muntashir and interpreted by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - retains the voice of Nusrat for the original lines - premieres tomorrow. Filmed in the picturesque localities of Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, the song shows the strong relationship between the characters of Ajay and Ileana.

Milan says he was trying to find the right flavor for the film, "specifically for Ajay" and was flipping through Nusrat's songs. "Bhushan Kumar (who is also producing the film) perceived my interest in these clues and told me that he could get 'Rashk-e-Qamar', which happened very organically," recalls the director.

"The song brought back memories of 'Kachche Dhaage', which tells me it was Nusrat's best album. I have a deep connection to him and it's great to have him in my life this way."
