Tollywood In February - An Overview
Telugu film industry has been on the rise in 2017 with all Sankranthi films proving to be successful.
The form continued in Februrary while local Nenu scored a great hit picking over Rs. 30 crore share their theatricals. This is Nani's biggest hit to date as Dil Raju sets a rare record by scoring back to back blockbusters within a span of three weeks.
However, the first major blow to buyers came from Om Namo Venkatesaya, a devotional movement of Nagarjuna and Raghavendra Rao.
It was expected that the film would be quite good considering its genre and previous history of such films. But Om Namo Venkatesaya ended as a shocking failure, as he never drew the ticket by paying the public.
ONV failed miserably, as dealers lost more than sixty percent of their investment. Neither the positive word of mouth nor the glorifying critics helped the prospects of the film.
Singam 3 opened decently but could not capitalize on it. Buyers bet a lot by going from the popularity of the franchise, but the third installment of Singam did not excite the masses enough so that it ended as a failure.
Ghazi turned out to be a surprise winner with magnificent collections everywhere. The movie has been doing well in its second week as well.
Among the launches this week, Winner opened on a high note, but the talk is not encouraging. You must keep from the days of the week to be a safe company for your investors.
Yaman got a decent opening, but it goes by his initial talk, Vijay Antony may not be able to get Bichagadu kind of feeling with her.
