Foreign Box Office: Killing the golden goose!

terrible casualties in three major recent films overseas markets collections have sent shockwaves Tollywood. Telugu film distributors USA have already pressed the panic button. For a couple of years ago, the overseas market for Telugu films going north. In the last 12 or 15 months, Telugu movies had seen the generous dollars so that dealers have begun to bet high on our movies.

As films incorporating million distributors, producers have become greedy. They have begun to demand more money for film rights. Similarly, dealers USA have also lost business sense and started taking big bet.

Forgetting the end market, low potential for return on investment, houses distribution as IDREAM / Eros and classic Entertainments took a gamble and large amounts of money are paid for the rights of 'Sardaar Gabbbar Singh', 'Sarrainodu' and 'Brahmotsavam'. While 'Gabbar Singh Sardaar' was purchased by a whopping Rs 10.5 Cr by IDREAM / eros, 'Brahmotsavam' was purchased by Classic Entertainment (which belong to the producers 'Srimanthudu') for Rs 13 Cr.

'Gabbar Singh Sardaar' was released in more than 42 countries, but the film failed to rake in any good money. In the central US territory, it has been completed with only one million dollars gross. The film is a great loss for the distributor abroad and local exhibitors in the US ..

Now, 'Brahmotsavam' is becoming bigger in the overseas market, which is the citadel of Mahesh Babu failure. The film in its first weekend has raised a million dollars, but it may not add much in the week or days later. The distributor and exhibitors end up losing more than 50 percent.

The same distributor also bought Allu Arjun 'Sarrainodu' for Rs 6 Cr (including all expenses) and the film grossed more than US $ 870K. It is also a major failure in the US, although the film worked well in India.
It is true that the US market It has become one of the largest territories of income for Telugu films now, but greedy dealers and producers are trying to kill the goose that lays golden eggs (dollars).

The market opened with great success last year 'Baahubali'. 'Baahubali' sets historic record by raising more than six million dollars. A small budgeted movie like 'Bhale Bhale Magadivoy also raised a million and a half dollars. 'Srimanthudu' and 'Nannaku Prematho "surprised everyone by raising more than two million dollars.' Oopiri 'was also a big hit in the US, as it has collected about 1.70 million.

It is time for producers and distributors to sell or buy movies realistically, where both can be win-win situation.
